Permissions explained

Each permission has a job. Here is what it does and what you control.

Internet and network status

INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE let the app open websites, inspect resources, download and stream media, and check network conditions for Wi-Fi-only tasks. These are system permissions without a runtime approval dialog. Sources receive network requests as described in the privacy policy.

Download notifications

POST_NOTIFICATIONS is requested on supported Android versions to show download progress and completion notices. You can decline or turn notifications off in Android Settings → Apps → Video Saver → Notifications. System treatment of foreground-service notices depends on the Android version.

Foreground transfers and wake locks

FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC and WAKE_LOCK support user-started transfers using Android’s background-work system. They are not microphone recording or location permissions. Downloads can continue after leaving the page; pause or cancel them in Downloads.

Access to a chosen folder

Android’s system folder picker grants access to a directory you select, including creating downloaded files there. Supported Android versions also allow the app to manage its own entries in Downloads. This app does not request MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO or READ_MEDIA_AUDIO. Change the destination in Settings; files already saved stay in their original location.

Website permissions

The built-in WebView denies website camera and microphone permission requests and does not grant access to local file/content URLs. JavaScript, first-party cookies and site storage support website playback. This is separate from Android permission prompts. Deleting link history does not erase cookies; see the deletion guide.

Advertising identifiers and internal permissions

The AD_ID permission supports Google AdMob advertising identifiers where Android and the user’s device choices permit access; it does not show a runtime permission dialog. Change advertising-ID choices in Android settings. Analytics advertising-ID collection is disabled independently. Ad Services attribution, Topics and identifier permissions remain removed. Dependencies also supply the Play install-referrer permission and an app-specific signature permission for non-exported receivers. These do not grant access to contacts, media files or precise location.
